Terms of service
Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 12 June 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern all bookings, camps, Sunday Academy places, mentoring sessions, shop purchases and services provided by Athlete Academy Ltd ("Athlete Academy", "we", "our", "us"). By booking a place, buying a product or using our website, you agree to these Terms. All bookings for under-18s must be made by a parent or legal guardian. These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland.
2. Bookings and payment
All sessions, camps and Sunday Academy blocks must be paid in full in advance to secure a place. A booking is confirmed only once payment has been received. Places are limited and offered on a first-come basis, and we may decline or cancel a booking at our discretion. When booking a camp or Sunday Academy place, you must provide accurate player details (name, age and position) for each child.
3. Pricing and VAT
Prices are shown in euro. Our camps, Sunday Academy and mentoring programmes are exempt from VAT, as the provision of education and training to children and young people that supplements the education participants receive at school, an exempt activity under Irish VAT law. Athlete Academy is not registered for VAT and does not charge VAT on any of its programmes or products, including shop items. The price shown is the total you pay.
4. Cancellation and refunds
Our full cancellation and refund terms are set out in our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary, camp and session bookings are paid in advance and are generally non-refundable once confirmed, with limited exceptions set out in that policy. Statutory rights that apply to physical goods bought online are unaffected.
5. Mentor and coach substitution
We reserve the right to substitute a named mentor or coach if required due to injury, professional commitments or other unforeseen circumstances. Any substitute will be of a comparable standard. Such substitutions do not entitle a participant to a refund. Our marketing describes professional player mentor input; professional players contribute through scheduled sessions across a programme and are not present at every session.
6. Participation, medical fitness and safeguarding
Rugby is a physical contact sport that carries an inherent risk of injury, including injury caused by contact with other participants during play, even when sessions are properly organised and supervised. By booking, the parent or guardian acknowledges and accepts these inherent risks on behalf of the participant.
As a condition of taking part, the parent or guardian must complete a participation and medical declaration for each participant as part of the booking, confirming that the participant is in good health and fit to take part, disclosing any relevant medical condition, injury or allergy, and acknowledging the risks involved. This declaration is completed and electronically signed at the point of booking, and a booking is not complete without it. In the event of injury or a medical emergency, where the parent or guardian cannot be reached, they authorise Athlete Academy to arrange appropriate medical assistance for the participant.
Participation is undertaken at the participant's own risk. Physical contact, including tackling, rucking and collisions, is an inherent and expected part of rugby, and injuries can occur as a result of contact between participants even where sessions are properly organised, coached and supervised. Athlete Academy's insurance does not cover injury caused by one participant to another during play. Parents are responsible for ensuring the participant has appropriate medical and personal accident insurance cover, and we strongly recommend such cover is in place before attending.
Athlete Academy is committed to providing a safe, professional environment and to safeguarding the children in our care. All coaches working at our camps are Garda vetted. We expect participants to behave respectfully towards coaches and other athletes, and we reserve the right to remove a participant from a session or camp for inappropriate behaviour, without refund. All communication regarding a booking must be conducted through a parent or legal guardian.
Athlete Academy and its coaches shall not be liable for injury, loss or damage sustained during participation except to the extent caused by our negligence. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Irish law.
7. Photography and media
From time to time, photographs or short video clips may be taken during sessions or camps and used for promotional purposes where parental consent has been given. If consent is not granted, we will make reasonable efforts to exclude that participant from media content. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting info@athleteacademy.ie.
8. Shop, apparel and pre-orders
Apparel and other goods are sold subject to availability. Where an item is offered for pre-order, this is made clear on the product page along with the estimated dispatch time. For pre-orders, payment is taken at the time of order and the item is sent once stock reaches us, within the timeframe stated. Delivery and returns for goods are covered in our Shipping and Delivery Policy and Refund and Cancellation Policy.
9. Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers are valid for 5 years from the date of issue, are non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
10. Intellectual property
All content on our website and in our materials, including our name, logo, text, images and video, is owned by or licensed to Athlete Academy and may not be used without our permission.
11. Limitation of liability
Athlete Academy provides mentoring and coaching designed to support player development. We do not guarantee selection, performance outcomes or progression within any rugby pathway. To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, we shall not be liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory consumer rights.
12. Events outside our control
We are not liable for failure to deliver a service due to events beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, venue unavailability, illness or public health measures. In such cases we will act in line with our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
13. Complaints and contact
If you have a concern or complaint, please contact info@athleteacademy.ie and we will do our best to resolve it.
14. General
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. The latest version will always be published on our website.
